I'm looking to upgrade my grinding wheels. I know CBN are the most amazing ones, but they are (probably) out of my price range.

So - short of CBN - what wheels are best suited to sharpening HSS tools? My grinder is a 3580* RPM bench grinder with 6" wheels.

Also, what grits do you recommend?

*or something like that, the exact number got away from me in the seconds it took to get from the studio to the computer.

Camel or CGW put out K wheels that come in various grits and colors.

K wheels little harder and do not grove as much as I or J wheels. Wheel hardness does vary among manufacturers. You have to go by label and not color to determine hardness. Never had a problem with CGW wheels when still made in Israel.

Since cannot buy friable AL wheels in my town have to pay shipping so also consider those cost too.
