Hello to all. My name is Brian and I am originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. I am fully retired after 40+ years in the engineering and construction industry.Me and my family are fully settled in SC and having a great time with my new hobby of penmaking. I am looking forward to learning a lot about penmaking from the huge gantry of experienced wood workers associated with forum.
Regards to all
Brian

Welcome Brian. There is a great bunch of IAP members in your state. You might check "Local Chapters" forum for info.

Below are links to two threads/articles that have lots of information on pen turning. The first one is a very basic overview of the many aspects of getting into turning pens.
http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42446

The second link has postings by different pen turners and what they wish they had known earlier:

Here is another link - a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't.

Welcome Brian! I am in Ware Shoals, less than an hour south of you. Joel (Tuba707) is in your neck of the woods too.
