My grandkids finally wanted to turn their first pen. Colton is 15 and Katja is 11. I let them pick the blank and color on pen kit. Colton wanted the green kit and Desert Ironwoon. Katja wanted anttique copper and Leopardwood. I let them make any shape they wanted. Colton didn't want the clip(already modifying).

He told me today he has a friend that wants one now.
I might have him hooked.

They had a great time and so did I.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks for looking.

That is terrific. I think Colton got a terrific piece of wood and his pen is really unique. I tought my brother, his wife, two neices and a nephew to make pens. Its a great family activity. Now whenever we have a tree or large shrub to take down, we always save some of the wood to dry and make pens. The kids seem to appreciate the change from living tree to wood, to turned object of beauty. Its become its own family event, which adds to the enjoyment when its finally dry and ready to turn.

Looks like you may have to add another lathe, or two to your shop.LOL
Looks like you all had a good time. Keep them turning. Ted:smile:
