My husband knows people in the tool room and told them about my problem. One of the guys wanted the tubes to make some bushings. He made a set for the cap(the part that didn't fit to begin with) and asked me to try them out.
WOW! These things fit snuggly in the tubes and I put a tube on them and put them on the lathe. They spin perfectly, no wobble at all. They are not all polished and shiny, but they work awesome. The large part is a little smaller than the originals because he used some scrap to make them, but I can use calipers to get the correct size for now.

He said he can make another, better pair if they work. I should get the pair for the body part today.

A picture for the "no picture, didn't happen" folks.

And I so wanted to be able to use my "This topic is useless without photo" gif....drat!

What kind of metal is it? Was wondering how they will hold up to sanding? Unless you remove them for that part??

They are steel. They should work as good as the originals. I shouldn't be able to hit them when sanding, they are smaller than they should be. I will test them after I get a new blank finished.
