My little propane heater got me through last winter alright , but paid Blue Rhino lots of bucks . This shop is in a corner of a 3 car garage , and is 13' X 14' with 9' ceiling . The outside walls are well insulated . This year I decided to put up two insulated walls and continue to use this propane heater . Don't worry , there is plenty of ventalation . Some may think it's a messy shop ,but I know where everything is , including that brown bottle on the bandsaw   The cost for this project is half of what I spent heating this shop last year , and I was lucky to get it above 55 . So far we've been very fortunate temperature wise , but that's about to change soon . I can't wait to get to Florida !!
BTW , I DO intend to straighten this place up . Gotta build some shelves and another riser for the bench . All in due time ! Thanks for looking , and if you have any suggestions , I'm all ears .

Thats MESSY? LOL! I wouldn't dare show mine if thats what you think messy looks like.

Looks nice to me... I wish I had room to do that... If I did that, I'd have to leave my car out... Works ok in the summer, but not in WI in winter. I'd have to wake up 30 minutes early for work to scrape off/warm up car... Not going to happen.

Hey Chuck,
Nice looking shop... I don't use a heat often, but did some last year. I used a little electric with a fan that I could sit fairly close to me and blow a little warmth my way... my shop is a stand alone, all metal building, no insulation except for the masonite pegboard I put on all the walls... the ceiling is open to the bare metal.... my little heater bit the dust last week when I was a little nippy in the shop, so will be looking for a replacement for Jan/Feb....

Question, is the butane an open flame and what about the dust factor in the shop.. any problems with that... I've heard about flour mills exploding from the dust in the air and wondered about the same for shops where we do lots of sanding... even with the DC running I still get a layer of dust.

Chuck , I tried using an electric heater , but there are only two lines of service to the whole garage with 100 amps . It kept popping the breaker . So , I switched to the propane . You bring up a good point about open flame and dust . I really don't think I have that much dust in my shop . But will keep an eye on the conditions . Thanks for your input .
