Welcome! This is the place to learn. I stumbled across this site in the same exact manner as you. The segmented pens pulled me down the rabbit hole. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Welcome Eric. There are some excellent pen makers in Florida, and they are on here too.

There are different categories of segments also. Pick your poison, er fun! 😁

One early problem with segments is the sanding dust contaminating different colors of wood, or brass/aluminum contaminating the wood. One of the easiest ways to eliminate sanding dust contamination is with a very sharp scraper or skew and doing a finish turn barely touching. That will scrape or slice the dust off. Sandpaper moves it around. Alcohol and paper towel, or erasers do a fair job but not nearly as well as a sharp tool.

Good Evening From Central Florida,

I have only turned basic pens, and recently saw some segmented versions that have intrigued me, and found a post from this forum. I look forward to learning what I can and sharing what I can.

Eric
Hi Eric. I'm also in central fl near Daytona. Ive been doing pens for a few years and have gotten into doing some segmented pens lately. Lots of fun and stunning results
