I remember Stan --- RIP

He was a heck of a ballplayer. His career spand from when I was 2 years old until I was 26 - he was always a star during the years when I loved baseball the most. I don't believe I ever heard anyone say a bad thing about him, I think he lived right.

A little unusual in that he played his entire career with just one major league club. His stats for a long career are right up there among the best and he was known throughout his career as being a real good guy as well.

I'm honored to have the same last name and both my kids wear #6 when they play baseball and softball. He grew up 2 doors down from grandfather and they were all in the same Polish Falcons Nest in Donora, PA.

I know Earl Weaver was a pretty successful manager but his time was after I had already developed diminished interest in MLB. As I recall he was known for getting tossed out of games.
