I've been to Salt Lake City many times and am here now. I am going to take the trip down to Provo to visit CSUSA tomorrow. Anything I should know? Yes, I'm rubbing it in that my LOML is allowing me to take a road trip without her to one of my favorite suppliers and I even get to spend money! Better yet, by FIL is coming and he will probably let me spend his money too!

I travel to Utah a few times a year on business and last month made my first trip since getting into wood turning;specifically pens. I made sure to make plenty of time to stop at CSUSA when scheduling stops in the area. I was surprised at the size of the showroom, very small and not much on display. Their primary business is mail order so they really don't need much of a showroom. But with that said they do have everything right there in the warehouses (the "compound" is several buildings) so if it isn't on display they are happy to get it out for you.

Safe travels,
Chris

When you do hit CSUSA, be sure to check out the back room! They have everything from black and white ebony mill blanks to full sized exotic lumber, not to mention the clearance rack! If you have some extra time, I'd love to have you guys swing by my shop and we can create some havoc!

Also, if your looking for more than just penturning supplies, there are a couple of stores around like Timberline Tools that has some pen stuff, discount tools, and some cool large chunks of exotic woods...

For your next trip you'll have to make an appointment to see a 12 foot CNC lathe in action! There is nothing really like watching a full sized log being whittled into a banister in a matter of minutes (I forgot the companies name but if you are interested I can try to find it for you)

Other than that, unless you have a desire to go skiing, Provo gets boring during the winter...

Hi Eric,
Oh, you are in trouble! I was just down there last week and have absolutely no willpower. Walk in for one thing and walk out with 10 others. Bring lots of $$$. As was said, the back room is filled with goodies.
What brings you to Utah? It either has to be business or you were forced against your will because other than great skiing, this place is not the hot spot of the USA. Even Grand Rapids is livelier (been there myself a bunch of times). If you are up in Salt Lake, MacBeth hardwoods is another test of willpower and Woodcraft in smack in the middle of both.
Let me know if you need anything while you are here......
Cheers
Bob

Had a great time. Visited Jonathan. Thanks! He had some nice goodies for me and showed me the shop. CSUSA was a great place to stop by as I was able to spend lots and get a tour of the facility. Stephen, if you see this, Thanks!
