Starting playing with making gnomes, here are the first 2 I made this weekend. Put the noses too low which allows beard seams to show and look bad. I also suck horribly at making circles so this is the practice I need to do that so win-win.


Wood is mahogany and spalted maple. Didn't get as much contrast between the woods as I had hoped but they don't look bad together. These are fun little things to make and quite easy.

Remember…Every turning is a learning experience.

If you just cannot bring yourself to have warm fuzzies over these guys, you can cast them upon the isle of misfit gnomes!!😆

They look fine. I think if you make the hat and body separately you can put hair there too when you put the 2 pieces together. Really though they don't look too bad.
