I went to a local engraver I ocassionally use to pick up a pen I had engraved as a going away gift for our Executive Officer. The center manager happened to be working the counter and when I took the pen to the register, she called a few people over and said that they had been admiring it and were wondering who had brought it in. They asked me all kinds of questions about "Did I make it myself... what kinds of materials did I use... and can I do custom colors." Long story short, I left with an order for three pens and a request to make five to ten more in organization colors so they can buy them and resell them as special going away gifts. She also asked me to enter the upcoming Craftsman's Fair in September.
Now that's how to top off a birthday!
EDIT: Oops, I forgot to mention that this was yesterday afternoon.
