So today was the day the Girl Scouts came for a visit. The troop has 9, but only 4 girls were able to come along with a boy from the boy scouts. The troop leader and her husband were there as well. I was a nervous wreck out there. I made a gold atlas out of Russian Olive wood and a CA finish which I didn't photo. I also failed to photo the nice collection of pens that people donated to give to the troop. A special word of thanks goes out to Desertrat (John), Buzzzz4 (Eric), Brooks803 (Jonathan), and Asyler (Allen) who were all so generous and sent slim line pens for me to give to the troop. My wife had little composition books numbered and each of the kids told her the number and got a pen too. We sent the others home with the troop to give to the girls who could not make it. I also had an aromatic slim line in there that again I forgot to photo. Sorry guys that I forgot to photograph all of the nice pens. The kids loved them. My wife also served fruit punch and brownies. I know in the pictures I forgot to put on my respirator. Like I said I was nervous. Everything went really well. Another special thanks to my good friend Larry's parents who donated the safety glasses for the troop to wear. I setup my lathe on the tablesaw so everyone could see. Enjoy the pictures, like I said I wish had taken more, but it was still a great experience to show the kids there is fun even without computers and video games out there hehehe.

What a wonderful thing to do with the girls. Nobody else would have exposed these girls to this and we all know there are some fantastic women penturners out there. Some of these girl scouts may be the next.

Yeah it was a fun time. Hope to be able to do something like that again. The boy wanted to save up and get a mini lathe

It sounds sterotypical, but they will remember that their whole life. I was in the reserves and was on the LARX boats (big boats with wheels). A boy scout troop came out and we took them out on the beach and into the water with our boats. 10 years later was talking with someone I was working with, and it ended up he was in that boy scout troop. He told me then how fun it was.
