Hi Everyone,
Giving pen turning a try as I've been getting into woodworking lately as I need something to fill my time while between jobs. Out of the Denver area, looking forward to learning and getting better at turning and other woodworking techniques. Pics of a few of the pens I've turned so far.

Welcome Sam. There is plenty to learn on this forum . Check the library under resources . Many of us offer wood /other materials for sale .If you are interested in making segmented blanks for pens just let me know . Great way to use up your scrap pieces of wood ,I am hear to help.

Welcome to IAP. Great looking pens and your are doing extremely well! Woodworking and pen making use many of the same tools but often different mindsets - due to the size of the finished product and how the products are used.

Looking at your pens tell that you have more experience than you are letting on. Join in the fun and keep at it!

Welcome! Nice pens! Count me as one of those people that started out as 'woodworker' doing mostly flat stuff like furniture, cabinetry, and wooden kids toys. Picked up penmaking to cut the stress of my normal 9 to 5 because I could put an hour in the shop and walk away with a really nice finished product, versus the months it would take for the custom work. Been keeping it going for a good long while now and enjoy it immensely! Hope you hang in and keep at it!

Greetings from Nebraska and welcome to the IAP community. Those are some pretty nice looking pens - especially the Magnetic Vertex Rollerball? What wood is that blank? It looks really good paired with the gunmetal finish. - Dave

Greetings from SE TN. My complements on the pens. Browse through the library which has a trainload of information. Feel free to ask questions here. If we don't know the answer, we'll make up something that sound impressive. 😊

It's figured koa, woodshop near me had a sale on hobby sized blocks of it (0.5-2bf), so I went and got some and cut it up into blanks, got a decent amount of them for projects. Sanded to 600, then sanding sealer, yorkshire grit, friction polish, and a bit of carnauba wax. Still need to figure out the best way to get a super high gloss finish on it. Tried doing CA on the wenge pen but wasn't a fan of the feel, so sticking to waxes currently.

Honest! Those canarywood pens in the first image were the first ones I turned, the second pic of the vertex rollerball was the most recent one. Gotten much better at finishing, but still have plenty of work to do. Still need to learn how to do coves better so I can get some more fancy shapes, and going to try and do some laser marking on some test blanks that I made to try and get some personalization done for gifts.
