I'm watching a General International 25-200 on a local online auction. Does anyone here have one or have any thoughts on this particular lathe?
 
I have one and it has worked well for years. It is no longer manufactured. I know some former owners who got rid of theirs because the electronics failed. Also make sure that the head stock and tail stock line up because mine did not and I had to shim it.
 
Finding parts down the road for a discontinued lathe may be difficult.
And it's not possible to check alignment etc
online. Might be worth a shot if you can get it at a good price.
 
General are great tools - industrial quality and last forever - old school made-in-Canada beasts. General International was made overseas and capitalizes on that name and sells a lower-end product (which is still pretty good), and I'd say they are essentially in the same boat as King, Jet, etc. The issue is that I think they stopped selling replacement parts.
All that being said, it looks pretty identical to this lathe, so maybe you can see if parts from this fit that one:
