For gel ink in my personal carry rollerballs I prefer the Pilot G-2. They don't always extend exactly the same amount as a rollerball refill would and can sometimes look like they are a little short, but for me the gel ink is highly preferred over the liquid rollerball ink.

The Gel ink refills for the Parker Style that I use are Monteverde. I am also happy with the Schmidt EasyFlow parker styles, but I don't know if they are gel ink or are a lower viscosity type of ink.

Although most of my direct experience is with Rollerball and Parker styles, I know that Monteverde does make a Cross style refill but I don't think it has gel ink. They refer to it as a soft Roll low viscosity paste ink. Considering the other Monteverde refills I have used, they are probably pretty good quality.

As for the prices, I think they are all relatively good, more expensive than the no-brand stuff, but not as much as the ultra high end either.
