HaHa! It's rediculous how they can do that! The same gas in the tank a month ago was 2.50 a gallon. Same gas now, higher cost!

It's not that ridiculous, They have to sell it at what it costs them to replace it.

If they jack the price of a Jr. Gent from $15 to $30, are you going to leave all your prices at the $15/kit levels you had? Or are you going to adjust your prices so that you can replace the kit once it sells?

The same happens at the stations when the trend is the other way. They paid $3 per gallon for whats in the tank, but they charge $2.50 since that's what it'll cost them to replace at that time. If they don't the guy across the street with a fresh delivery would outsell them until the price went back up.

Hmmm - right

A little history - March 2009 - Oil $54/ bbl - gas $2.00/gal: March 2010 - Oil - $83/bbl gas about $2.75/gal; March 2011 Oil - $104/bbl gas $3.40.

The ratio of the price of a gallon of gas to the price of a barrel of oil is about the same now as it was a year ago but about 15% higher than it was 2 years ago. In fairness prices were very low two years ago because of a glut on the market and a poor economy.

increased drilling will just show that we don't have enough infrastucture to move it to the refineries. The alaskan pipline for example is already run at maximum efficient capacity.

I imagine the next hitch will come this summer when they have to shut down some of the refineries for maintenance, and that can take a while, I wish we could get some of the wells in Texas and Oklahoma pumping but there's this silly group called the EPA you must have read about them they are the party involved in some of the over the top costs of oil and gas production, Oh and the there's this bunch of THUGS called OSHA they contribute to about 15 or 20% of the cost. The real problem is Nobody wants drilling in their back yard, and I honestly can't blame them, when I was a little kid around 1950 we lived near El Segundo CA. and there used to be well heads and Donkeys all along PCH right next to the beach. talk about disgusting stench and a black tar covered beach. We really don't have the infrastructure in place to transport raw crude, the Alaske pipeline is supposedly in horrible shape, and needs several billion dollars in repair, then how many super tankers do we have and terminals where they can unload. I'm afraid we are going to see some prices similar to Europe and the rest of the world, other than the middle east. I'm surprised China doesn't have some huge pools under her soil. I know their demand is growing incredibly fast.
I do hope we don't have to dip into the strategic reserves, not with armed forces all over the world, and what could really be an emergency here at home.

Seems like alot of people complain about gas prices. Yet most of these people drive gas guzzling suv's. It doesn't matter how high gas get's, i'll still pay the price at the pump. It does put a limitation on what I do with my spare time, but I can always go work in my garage or shop. That still costs me an arm and leg for electricity though. Before long there will be no middle class citizen. Just the rich and the poor.

The current price increase n gasoline is mainly speculation. The refineries have a glut of raw crude and are only operating at 80% of capacity. Blame the Futures markets!

When we speak of prices of oil, we generally feel that gasoline is the culprit. But it is the worlds addiction to products made from oil that is the real culprit. Here is a partial list I found by googling "Prodcuts made from oil":
Ammonia, Anesthetics, Antihistamines, Artificial limbs, Artificial Turf, Antiseptics, Aspirin, Auto Parts, Awnings, Balloons, Ballpoint pens, Bandages, Beach Umbrellas, Boats, Cameras, Candles, Car Battery Cases, Carpets, Caulking, Combs, Cortisones, Cosmetics, Crayons, Credit Cards, Curtains, Deodorants, Detergents, Dice, Disposable Diapers, Dolls, Dyes, Eye Glasses, Electrical Wiring Insulation, Faucet Washers, Fishing Rods, Fishing Line, Fishing Lures, Food Preservatives, Food Packaging, Garden Hose, Gasoline, Glue, Hair Coloring, Hair Curlers, Hand Lotion, Hearing Aids, Heart Valves, Ink, Insect Repellant, Insecticides, Kerosene, Linoleum, Lip Stick, Milk Jugs, Nail Polish, Oil Filters, Panty Hose, Perfume, Petroleum Jelly, Rubber Cement, Rubbing Alcohol, Shampoo, Shaving Cream, Shoes, Toothpaste, Trash Bags, Upholstery, Vitamin Capsules, Water Pipes, Yarn

We're green! I guess we should try to convince the rest of the world that by buying a wooden rollerball pen, they are helping to save the world!

I say drill baby drill. stop out dependence on middle east oil

The USA imports more oil from Alberta than the far east

We could even shift to importing all oil from non-middle eat countries and it wouldn't have an effect on the price paid nor the amount that those countries export.

Reason, It's a world market. If I'm importing from group A and have a "moral problem" with them, I shift to importing from group B. China on the other hand was importing from group B, but since B is now being hogged by me, they shift to importing from group A.

net effects are the same. groups A and B still exported the same amounts of oil and got paid the same amounts they would have under the old scheme.
