Cool, So what kind of Dust Collection and Filtration you going to have?

In an enclosed area like an apt that's really important. Besides if the landlord found that his heating/AC system filters were clogged with sawdust he might shut you down.

Could call this future shop part 4 but naaaa not this time LoL
Just got back from picking up a drill press from HF small but should work just fine. Now i need a work table and pen supplies

Wow, there is a thought.

I would highly highly recommend that you build a small enclosure. Floor to ceiling 2"x4"s, 1/4" drywall, large shop vac with dust cover hood (easy to make...and use dryer duct to connect the exhaust air outside or back into your enclosure as it will still have dust, the smallest powdery type)...this will cut noise, reduce dust, and help keep you in the apartment.

Once you get that build up of dust in the carpet it is unlikely it will ever come out, once the dust gets into the ductwork it will collect more moisture, and it will in general cause you so much grief...in this case a measure of precaution will pay for it self 10 fold.

Just a series of thoughts...best of luck with your project

No need to worry about carpet ... needs to be replaced. No Duct work to plug up. Noise I am not worried about ( even though landlady lives right next door not home most times when she is not in the office)

You will definately want some sort of resirator system for yourself, and keep the kids away while you are makin dust. "Lumber Lung" is no joke.

I don't think that a wall built with 2 x 4's and drywall is needed. You could use 2 x 2's and cover in 6mil plastic. Light would still come through and your dust would be reduced.

I wouldn't worry about carpet that is getting replaced, but getting a few sheets of plywood, would make clean up a lot easier.

A respirator is a must in that type of setup. You don't want to risk it.

Just my 2 cents...

Rob
