Hopefully some antler pen blanks in my back yard.
They know when it is time to be fed!!!!!!
Just waiting on me.
I can get within about 3 to 4 feet of them when feeding them corn and veggies.
One doe will come even closer.

What a place to live. Very cool.
I actually live in a development on about an acre with a 5 acre field behind me (hoping it never gets developed) and that is where the deer like to hang out besides my yard when I feed them in the morning and evening. And the love the fresh cold water I put out for them especially in this heat we have been having. Their kind of like family!!!!!!

That reminds me of the deer park in Nara City, Japan. Those deer will snatch food out your hands that you didn't intend for them to have.

Thanks for posting this Keith!

I was just in the pet shop yesterday and saw "natural dog chews" hanging on the rack in little bags. A 5" piece of deer antler.
They wanted $50CAD for it. Made me realize I have small goldmine in my shop.

There's a shop in Jewett, Texas, an antique/junque shop that has a room about 8 x 10 or so that was piled at least knee high with various antlers... the owner runs a game farm and has Fallow and other breeds of deer... at least last time I was there some 20 years ago.
He's on the edge of town as you are coming off I45 freeway.... I've forgotten the highway number now.

One of the guys I used to work with always planted turnips for the deer. Our neighborhood dogs and cats usually keep the wildlife population from encroaching in our neighborhood, except for the occasional 'possum and woodchuck. It must be really neat having that many deer around. - Dave

Been feeding the deer in back yard for probably 10 plus years now. When I moved my dad down here to live with us a few years ago it was a real treat for him to see all these deer in my back yard. He was a hunter for years. He'd sit at his window in bedroom and be amazed how they would come running when I went out to feed them. He always said, you better take care of my deer when I'm gone and we do.
I need to try some turnips and see how they like them.

That's quite a nice 'garden' you have there. I have Oak, Sycamore, Walnut, Hickory, Maple, and Beech that I nurture for future turning blanks. 🤣

Quite a herd of deer. Many deer hunters spend time shed hunting, looking for shed antlers. It can be an indication of the size of buck's racks. Caution: Check state laws; It is illegal in Tennessee to feed wildlife. One reason is people feed them things that are harmful. Second is that they depend on people. East Tennessee has a good black bear population which has seen increased contact between bears and people. Some are not good.
