Some years ago, a fellow turner and friend was coring out some ambrosia maple with his OneWay Coring System and had this small bowl core left. It was not even hollowed.
Last year, he moved out of state, downsized, and had a few bowl blanks he didn't take with him. I ended up with this blank. It was totally dried and a bit hard but the final result was well worth the effort.
He also had cored this on his beloved Powermatic 3520B which now resides in my shop. I finished this turning on his 3520B and now the bowl is on its way to him.
So, this piece is now a collaborative effort and going back to the hands that started it some years ago…..thus, Full Circle!
It is almost 8" diameter and about 2" tall.
Finish is a couple coats of Howard Feed & Wax and then lightly buffed with a clean flannel wheel for a soft luster.
