...along with every other part of her new body

Maybe this belongs in the new member or show off your pen sections

Please join me in welcoming Alyssa Evelyn Fisher. Alyssa is our 3rd child and 1st daughter. Born 7/12/13 at 4:25am. 5lb 8oz and 19.5" long. She came to us over a month earlier than expected but there were some complications with Chrissy and the doctors decided it was best for both her and Alyssa to induce.

Mom and baby are both doing wonderful. Chrissy will come home from the hospital tomorrow but they will be keeping Alyssa for another 1-2 weeks to mature in a controlled environment. She will be able to come home with us once she is able to regulate her own body temperature as well as starts putting on some weight and is big enough for the car seat. But she is eating well, scored 9 on her APGAR tests, and other than sleeping a lot is generally very responsive.

Please keep her in your prayers as she is not out of the woods yet.

Congratulations Carl - I'm guessing it may be a while before you get back to playing with the new lathe. Hope it's all smooth sailing for you and the family after last weeks excitement.

Ed

Thanks for the congrats all :)

I haven't been able to hold her too much yet, but I can't wait until we can bring her home. It will definitely be interesting to start over again. It's been just short of 10 years since our last one was that tiny.

Congrats to you and your wife Carl. Your little girl is very cute.

Congrats, to your family. We had 2 girls then the last one was a boy, we had a wide spread also the last one was 11 years later.

Just a quick update. Alyssa is still on an IV drip for nutrients and still in an incubator to keep temp regulated while her body focuses on other growth needs. Overall she's doing amazing though and is nursing like a full term according to the nurses.

Chrissy's blood pressure is still VERY high and they have her on 2 different BP meds to help control it. Not sure if she's going to be able to come home today or not now until they get that under control.

Alyssa will still be here for a while until she can be off IV and in an open bassinet for 48 hours. They also want to see at least a positive swing in weight gain. Right now she's lost a bit over the last 2 days but that's supposed to be normal.

Again thank you all for the well wishes. It really does mean a lot.

Congratulations Carl....She will be the apple of her daddy's eye and will have you eating out of her had by the time she's three....that will all end of course when she is grown up and reaches age 75 or 80 (that is she reaches 75 or 80). Mine girls are all in their 40s now and still can put on a face and say "Daddy...." when they want something from me.

She came off of the IV today and was pulled out from the incubator and UV blue light. She's now in an open bassinet and starting to come back towards her birth weight. She dropped down to 4lb 13oz and is now back up to 5lb. She was born at 5lb 8oz so it's a good swing in the right direction.

The doctors said she has officially reached preemie status and may be able to come home by this weekend.

Good news all around
