Currently ALL NINE of the small flat rate boxes are spoken for.

Did some rearranging and organization of my shop especially pen blanks. I sorted through what I though I would keep then was going to toss everything else but then thought that someone especially new turners might need something to practice on. I would be glad to fill a small flat rate box and send it to anyone that might want one. I could probably put together a half dozen or so boxes. I would make sure that there were a few nicer Walnut and Cherry blanks to make it worth the $5.35 shipping cost. It will be a mix of Walnut, Cherry, Maple and other domestics. If you get an exotic it will be a plus but don't expect it.

Here are some pics showing some of what I could send. Most everything is straight grain but it will still turn.

Anyone interested just PM me your address and let me know how you want to handle the shipping. PayPal would work well.

A lot of this Walnut will go.

Some of this Cherry will also go.

This is the main batch of stuff I was going to discard.

I will also throw in a piece or two of Walnut "waste-wood" in case some one wants to try their hand at casting a waste-wood blank.

You don't have to cast that waste wood to get good pens. You can drill it, tube it, and then fill the voids with crushed turquoise or other gemstone and CA glue then turn it with a carbide tool. I do it all the time.

Here is a little tutorial

Thank you Sharon for the tutorial link.
There you go new turners, a way to cast without actually casting.

Not a newbie here, so I won't be grabbing anything... but man, I'd love to have that box of "waste wood" for casting.

Some people throw away the best stuff ;)

Dan don't get the impression that the waste wood box is my throw-aways. I will be placing a couple a pieces of this and some nice cherry in each "free" box so that folks that participate don't feel like they are wasting their $5.35 shipping fee. Actually I have already stabilized some of it with CJ which of course are the ones I will be keeping. Any left over will also eventually get stabilization. Stabilization is not strictly needed for the walnut, it will work fine for casting/turning as is. Stabilization is just part of my standard process for waste wood.

Got them boxed.

I got my excess blanks all boxed up and ready to go this afternoon. Ended up with 9 small flat rate boxes.

Typical minimum content of each box.
The "Walnut waste wood"(at least two pieces -the link shows a typical piece in use) is from an old black walnut stump that was eat up with black ants creating all kinds of voids. The "Old Wormy Barn-wood Chestnut"(one piece each box -link shows sapwood, mostly heartwood and darker) is from an old barn a friend of mine tore down a year or so ago. The Cherry, Maple, And Walnut is mostly straight grain cut-offs from flat-work projects(lots of each).
