Ok, I currently do not drill blanks on a lathe. I was using the pen makers vise that has the two gears that turn and closes the jaws. I've had it about 2 years. It started freezing up, galling, etc. I am not pleased with this type of vise. Any comments on the best vise? I just ordered one from PSI and thought I would give it a try.

But really, it's beyond me why you would order one and then ask about the best vise!:biggrin:without waiting for a reply!

If you are going to drill with a vice, THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE for the Huffman Vise. Be advised, he is about a year out on production.

Thanks Andy, but I needed one now. Maybe by the time he has some, I will order one.

I have two General pen vises. Could sell you one. I sure don't need two. $50 shipped.

I've heard very good things about WoodCraft's WoodRiver Deluxe Self Centering Pen and Bottle Stopper Drilling Vise.
