Flex Coat

I have always been told that the only stupid question is the one that is not asked, so here goes....I make and repair fishing rods and we use flex coat over the turned threads (it's shinny and lasts for years). I'm new to pen turning and was wondering, Has anyone ever tried this product on pens? :glasses-nerdy:

I also build the occasional fishing rod and tried Flex Coat on a couple of pens. I found that it builds up too much and although it does provide a very shiny finish, it almost makes wood look like plastic. Just my opinion.
