Flat Top American

It's been a long time since I put these together and I can't remember how to change the refill. I'm giving one to my doctor and would like to show her how to do it. Please help.

Pull off the flat top end and unscrew the transmission and you will have access to refill or some times you can unscrew the nib. But look out for the spring.

If it is a Berea Hardwoods kit you simply unscrew the bottom barrel from the top barrel to change refills. replace the refill, being sure that the replacement has a spring in place, then screw the lower barrel back onto the upper barrel until tight then twist to be sure the double twist mechanism is working properly.

On a Berea Hardwoods Flat Top American Double Twist, you can't simply pull anything off without messing the pen up. I'm pretty sure this is correct as I've made several hundreds, maybe more, of these particular pens.

Go to the Berea Hard Woods site and look up the assembly instructions to confirm what I've said.
