Just before Christmas, bitshird (Ken) offered his last Woodchuck II tool for a great price, so I ordered it. I thought it was going to have a handle on it, but to my surprise...No Handle??? *LOL* I finally had to turn my first tool handle and it actually came out to the dimensions and the look I was looking for. The best part is, the Woodchuck II is now my #1 tool for that final finishing cut for my pens, wood and acrylic, as well as for other things I've turned.

It does a fantastic job and my skews are feeling a bit lonely, but they'll get over it I'm sure. As soon as I can afford it, I plan on buying a couple more of the great tools that Ken makes. Check them out here: http://www.woodchuck-tools.com/

Thanks for looking, comments (constructive) are highly appreciated, and HAPPY NEW YEAR To All!

I forgot to mention the particulars about the handle. The wood I used is sycamore and the length of the handle is 14" because that is all the longer I can go with my Delta 46-460 without the extension. (someday I hope) I sanded up to 600 grit and then put a couple of light coats of friction polish on the handle. I used 30 minute epoxy to glue the tang of the Woodchuck II into the handle which seemed to work really well.

The length of the handle works, but I really do wish I could have gone to around 18" for when I am using it for bowls.

Rick, that's a nice looking handle, even with a 14 inch handle you can extend the cutting edge at least 3 inches beyond the edge of the tool rest, then you find that turning the tool rest into a bowl, (unless you are doing a very large bowl), you still have good control, I like my handles 17 to 20 inches but have only needed one that long 1 time, but normal people don't do things like I do (DUH), Glad you like the tool please give my condolences to your skews
