Doesn't look like DIW burl to me. Did it smell like old dirt when you turned it? DIW is very heavy wood, and is super smooth once sanded. It's pretty easy to tell once you've done one.

But that is still a very nice pen. Good Job. :good:

Good looking pen Dan. Maybe beeswing jarrah? Looks like some of what i have. It's definitely not desert ironwood burl.

Well, I have a method that uses it through the sanding process. But 6 coats after sanding. 2 forward, 2 reverse, 2 forward.
