I was sad when the bottom section split in half and fell to the ground. But happy to see that it glued back together very well

Swmbo was standing at the computer
and said "I want one".
Now I need to find out how to cast one.
Nice work by the way.

Wife and kids pick up pine cones when they go for walks.

with this cast I cut up the cones with my bandsaw (table saw will do but watch your fingers)

I used PR with pearlx colors gold and orange. (any fall colors will do)
Let the PR sit for a while. I then layered the PR in the mold and poked the pine cones bits around to mix the colors and bam.

Pressure pot is optional.

You might try smashing the pine cone with a hammer. I find cut offs show unnaturally straight lines which might show better. either that or turn the natural edge inward in the mold leaving the straight lines on the outside edge of the mold.

When turning use a sharp skew and stop every once and a while and CA the pine cone parts. This might be more problamatic if you do not use pressure.

Very nice work, I'm looking forward to cast/turn some of those "Georgia Peach" pine cones Moyehow sent me. I like the pearlx colors, nice combo there.

You did a great job on the pen and nice save. No offense to you, but to me the pen kind of looks like something I dropped in the toilet this morning. It's a neat concept but it just looks kinda gross to me. Please don't be offended though Manny, you did a great job with it.

You crack me up Brian. No offense taken.

Just remember one persons turds in another persons.....

Never mind I can't make that saying work lol

Might want to see a doctor about that btw ;-)

I also LIKE the larger pictures. It certainly makes viewing the finer details a lot easier.

I believe you have made a very neat cast and did a very nice job on the turning. Well done!

Manny,

Best quote on this I ever heard was from the owner of a Septic Tank Company..

"Your sh&% is our Bread and Butter..."

Still cracks me up 30 years later...
