First Pens

Well I have finally made my first too pens. I think I need to disassemble and turn down a bit more.

Although the way you have done it could be a 'style', coming from another beginner, the two things I would say is 1)Yes, you need to get down to the bushings to look/feel right and 2) The lighter color pen seems to not have a square barrel at the middle ring. There appears to be a gap there as well.

Keep turning.. It gets more interesting!

Nothing wrong with being different.

However, that looks uncomfortable. Do you know that the "comfort" pen from PSI has a larger centerband, which would accomodate your extra girth?

Turning looks good, finish looks fine. NICE START!!

Not bad for your first! Practice,practice and more practice. That's the ONLY way to get better. And it's fun too!!!

My first two pens looked like they were made by beavers.
I can tell yours are pens, and not bad looking plus they probably work fine.
My first ones gave me splinters something awful.

Good start. I wouldn't disassemble. Keep 'em, though. A lot of us have our first pen around.

I gave the light colored Cocobolo to my wife and wanted to disassemble to fix but she wants it the way it is. I get nervous using the skew chisel when I get so close to the bushings. It's a great feeling though to see the finished product.
