Here are a couple pens I turned tonight. Purple Heart SL, Spalted Hickory SL, and a Spalted Hickory Euro. Sorry about the photo quality, I was trying to show the color of the wood more than anything. The Hickory is from the bunch I offer in trade for pen kits in the Trade section.

I have never worked with Hickory, and always thought it had a coarse, open grain.
