First few turnings

Pretty new to this; have done a couple of pens and a few other small items but have really gravitated towards bottle stoppers. Here are a few of the projects I have turned while I learned.

The fire starter kit is cedar finished with a few coats of natural Danish Oil. The 6 stopper photo includes 2 in walnut, 1 in cedar, 2 in red mallee burl, and 1 in red dyed spalted maple. Fairly pleased with all of these, but still learning things as I go!

Very nice work on all of these items.
One suggestion, look into threaded inserts and a bottle stopper chuck from PSI (and possibly other vendors) if you're not using them already. You eliminate the need to tap threads into bottle stoppers.
Simply drill a 1/2" diameter hole in the blank, and epoxy in the insert. Chuck is about $15.
Simplifies the entire process !

Thanks, and that's exactly how I do these. Much more reliable than tapping the blank itself I'd imagine.

Thanks! The finish on the wood stoppers is GluBoost. Had started using Stick Fast but had some cracking problems. The GluBoost retains some flexibility when cured, so no more cracks. Couple coats of the blue followed by a couple coats of the orange. The acrylic blanks are just sanded, followed by the micro polish wax and then a quick hit of some Maguiar's car polish.

A few of the items I have done more recently. Trying to be more familiar and competent with gouges and skews, rather than doing everything with carbides. I feel like I learn something with every piece I turn, including and especially a couple of mistakes made recently.
