I ordered some of the baby soda bottles the other day from a supplier in the USA. $19.99 for 15, not bad I thought, they said they would contact me re the carriage. Just had an email saying that it would be $161.00 for 3 day FedEx or $65 for USPS (no damage, loss or theft cover). I didn't realise that they gave freight a seat in first class! Needless to say I cancelled the order. I had a similar problem with an order for the buffing system that was on offer last week and you guy's posted a link. Goods $27, shipping $65, I cancelled that order as well. I'm going to have to find a new way of getting stuff from the USA :frown:

I would bet they are including a handling charge in that also. I don't know the size of the tubes, but if they would fit in a large Flat Rate box, which is 23-11/16" x 11-3/4" x 3" or 12" x 12" x 5-1/2", the postage is $60.95.
I suspect they would actually fit in a Medium Flat Rate box which is 13-5/8" x 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" or 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2"and costs $47.95.

In my mind, I always complain about the added cost of getting things to Hawaii, and my lack of being within driving range to ANY woodworker's or penmaker's supply store (none on island...Kauai). I will be less of a complainer (in my mind) after reading your experience.

I am hoping I have found a UK based supplier of the baby soda bottles that are within 40 miles of me so I am going to give them a call first thing Monday and see if I can blag some free samples :-)
