First Bushings

I've attached a photo of my first TBC bushings. They are for bullet cartridge pens. Turned from 12L14 with hss. They just need a little deburring and should work fine. $5.00 bushings for 25c material and 20 minutes labor. Enables me to have the bushings I need when I need them. Will try them tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind words. A business? I don't think so. I retired in 2001 and am working a second career. This is all interfering with my pen turning. :>)

I use a 1/4 inch center drill. I turn the two major diameters and cut off the turning from the original stock. Then chuck up the turned end and drill with the center drill in the tailstock. Here is the thing, I have done these with a three jaw chuck. It is an excellent chuck and quite accurate so I do not worry about concentricity when reversing the part in the chuck. After using them last night I found them to be accurate. If I were to do these commercially I would have to use collets which I do not have on the particular lathe I was using. I have collets for my larger lathe and smaller lathe but not for this one. I think most people would not be satisfied with the system I used thinking them unsatisfactory not using collets. But it works for me.
