Greetings from Nebraska. This is my first go at making a Ferro Rod type Firestarter. The wood is some figured Cedar that I had in my scrap bin. It turned out OK, but I made some notes on what could have been done better for next time - like drill a little deeper for the compass on the end and to use a jam chuck or dead center to drive the compass end. The spur I used left the wall thickness around the compass a little out of round. I used my standard wooden pen CA regimen for the finish. - Dave
