I really like to finish my pens with spray lacquer or at least the ones I have made so far. I am going to be turning some pens out of materials I haven't turned so far like cocobolo, amboyna and other burls, rosewood, kingwood to name a few. Will the lacquer finish work on these particular woods followed by TSW ( which I just got a little jar from BB at Arizona Sil and I love it. Also, do you find that more than one coat of TSW makes any difference?

Thanks,
corey

Lacquer will work just fine on all of those, Corey. At some point, you might want to try cocobolo with just TSW on top. It's oils make it one wood that really doesn't require a finish. As for multiple coats of TSW, I generally do two applications because I'm picky about the final appearance. TSW, unlike some of the other similar products, will build with each coat.

Thanks Lou, I really to like the TSW and it is about the only finish I have in my arsenal that doesn't smell bad and have fumes that makes me want to put on some Jimi Hendrix after awhile [:D] I take it since it is on the package that the second coat of TSW really neeeds to be put on 24 hours later? After waiting 5-7 days for the lacquer to cure I am pretty antsy about assembling the pen [:)]
