Hey yall
Just finished the last 2 pens from our 1st famly vacation. I took some wood from the fireplace/red oak/ and decided to make a pen for everyone to rember our trip. Hope they and yall like.

I have to reply to your post since you used the "y'all" word which is near and dear to my heart [:D]

Those are some great looking pens from firewood. The fit and finsh are great...... you did good!
 
Nice pens! I think red oak is one of the woodiest looking woods out there (in a good way). Sometimes we get caught up in making a pen (or whatever) from the most exotic thing we can find and forget that there is a lot of beauty in the easy-to-find woods as well.
 
Very nice work. I wish pens like that would sell better. I like the look of natural wood. But alas, I use red oak to make bushings for making pens, not the pens themselves.
