Finish for Ipe

I am making a couple benches for the backyard and am using some Ipe for the seats, but have no idea what would make the best finish for them. They will be outside year round so they will be subjected to all sorts of weather.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Nothing. It is so dense it will not absorb a finish well. Let it silver and is maintenance free. Mother nature's gift.

Looks like it will be the natural finish for the benches. Sanding as required as it weathers.

Treat the end grain with a sealer made for the purpose.
