After a year and a half of suffering without a tablesaw, I finally found the deal I was looking for. I wanted a hefty saw that I could keep for at least 20 years (not that I definitely will, but y'know what I mean) that wouldn't break my budget and didn't take up half my shop. Well I finally linked up with a guy who buys pallets of random things at truck freight auctions and he had a couple of Steel City saws, and I just had to snatch one up. The only hitch is that the rails for the fence system are missing, but to replace them is $160 shipped from Steel City. There are a couple of little dings on the saw but nothing that affects the performance.
The one I ended up buying is the 35631, which is a 10" saw 220V 3hp with the titanium nitrite coating on the table. I'm seriously impressed with the features and overall solidness of this saw, and I would recommend anyone to take a look at Steel City for tablesaws. The guy I bought the saw from was a master cabinet builder and he seriously contemplated selling his unisaw and keeping one of his Steel Cities. Oh yeah, and I ended up paying $750 for the saw and fence, so with the rails, it'll end up costing me just over $900 for the whole setup. I'm planning on adding a built-in router table on the right side as well. Now I finally have a tablesaw, and a sweet one at that!!!!!
