After a year and a half of suffering without a tablesaw, I finally found the deal I was looking for. I wanted a hefty saw that I could keep for at least 20 years (not that I definitely will, but y'know what I mean) that wouldn't break my budget and didn't take up half my shop. Well I finally linked up with a guy who buys pallets of random things at truck freight auctions and he had a couple of Steel City saws, and I just had to snatch one up. The only hitch is that the rails for the fence system are missing, but to replace them is $160 shipped from Steel City. There are a couple of little dings on the saw but nothing that affects the performance.

The one I ended up buying is the 35631, which is a 10" saw 220V 3hp with the titanium nitrite coating on the table. I'm seriously impressed with the features and overall solidness of this saw, and I would recommend anyone to take a look at Steel City for tablesaws. The guy I bought the saw from was a master cabinet builder and he seriously contemplated selling his unisaw and keeping one of his Steel Cities. Oh yeah, and I ended up paying $750 for the saw and fence, so with the rails, it'll end up costing me just over $900 for the whole setup. I'm planning on adding a built-in router table on the right side as well. Now I finally have a tablesaw, and a sweet one at that!!!!!

Very nice!! I've read a lot of good things about Steel City, including their great customer service. You got a bargain there.

You might want to route some grooves in your workbench to match the miter slots in the saw.

Keith, I was thinking the same thing about the grooves myself. I just got the saw late last night, but I'm going to fit it to that table and use it as an outfeed table (that means I'll have to keep the crap off it!!!).

The guy I bought it from actually has another one, with a cast iron top, not the titanium. If you're anywhere around Richmond (JIM!), this is a guy you definitely want to get hooked up with. He has gallons and gallons of uncatalyzed lacquer, analine dyes, powermatic helical head planers, shapers, saws, shop vacs, fireproof chemical lockers, car lifts, you name it! I spent 3 hours in his warehouse last night and it's like a Toys-R-Us for men!

I ran the wire to it and fired it up tonight. The thing just purrs like a tiger....pretty awesome. I've used my dad's Craftsman cabinet saw, and this thing makes that one look like a tinker toy. SWEEEEEET!
