Some of you know I have been battling a digestive problem for about 3 months now that has resulted in 5 hospitlizations and removal of my gall bladder. Doctors still have not figured out the problem and I have been referred to Dallas, TX. The finally called today and gave me their first available appointment of Nov. 2nd. I will undergo what is called sphincter of oddi testing and possibly cut the shincter muscle open. It is a pretty dangerous test that could result in severe pancreatitis from what I understand. I haven't worked in 3 months and have suffered from depression for a few weeks now caused by the illness.

I am not asking anyone for anything other than to just think or me or pray for me if you will.

Best of wishes to you. Just a question, but have you been tested for Celiac disease? The symptoms for it sound very similar to your recent experiences. Often it is overlooked, but there are more cases of it then MD expect.

If it is Celiac disease like Cindy says, it is much more easily treated today then it use to be. You could always cut out all of the gluten stuff for the next couple of weeks and see if you have any relief before coming down to Dallas for the procedure/testing.

I have only been blood tested for celiac, but evidently it is one of the harder things to get to show up on blood tests. I think I have been tested for everything. Heck they even tested me for AIDS. I keep saying I show more symptoms of Crohn's then anything. Just seems doctors don't want to listen to anyone anymore. That or I am just trying to talk myself out of this surgery for fear of the what could happens. Heck I have had brain surgery for 2 aneurysms and an AVM and haven't been this nervous. What sucks is I am only 35 years old and don't need anymore of this crap. What's bad is with all the testing I have had they have also found a growth on my vocal chord and mass growing on one of my kidneys that i go to a doctor for next Wednesday.
 
Sorry to hear that. Having gone through an exploratory abdominal surgery at the first of the year to figure out a stomach problem I can trace back to the 90's, the doctors were finally able to diagnose a condition called Meckel's Diverticulum. They were able to fix that during the exploratory, but also took my appendix since they were "right there". Only problem was I bled from the appendix site and then abscessed several times requiring 4 surgeries and a month in the hospital.

The only thing I can recommend is to keep trying to do things to keep your spirits up. Any diversion... Any "thing" that you can do to keep you out of the "funk" is what you have to do.

I would strongly encourage you to go gluten free for a few weeks. I had a lot of similar symptoms and was diagnosed with Celiac disease. I have been gluten free for a couple of years and the difference in my health is amazing! Keep us posted. There is a lot of support here!
