Anyone know of a source for Fig wood? I have a customer that wants me to make a small box out of Fig wood. I searched but cannot find a source. Do any of you know where I can get some? Thanks.

at my house, FIG wood is "Found in garage" :biggrin:

I have some pen blanks that are from fig trees clippings but nothing 'large' enough to make a small box. Will help you with pen blanks if desired.

Be very careful if you have never turned fig wood before. A member of my woodturners guild ended up in the hospital with massive blisters accross his arms, face, and in his lungs. He ate fig newtons so never thought he would have a problem. The hospital told him there are components in fig wood that can cause the same reaction as some chemicals used to make WMD.
