With Bob Jackson out of commission, I guess it falls to me and Jason to get the Feb meeting organized. Big shoes but we will try.
I have posted in the Ohio forum, but it does not show up on the first page so I thought I'd try this.

The North Coast club meets on the first Sat. and the Buckeye group on the 15th so I am thinking Feb. 22.

I will get this set up with Hartville Hardware soon.

We need ideas for the program.
Jason will demo turning between centers. and display/review some tools.
Does anyone else have any ideas or willing to demo something.

We will also need a few door prizes.

Please keep an eye on the Ohio forum for updates.

I sent an email to Hartville Hardware last night.
I found out today they are having their big tool sale on the 22.
We may end up moving to March.
We will see what they say.

Hi Bob (and Jason):

I'll volunteer to bring door prizes again (8-10 bags) to whenever Hartville gets set up. I'm busy March 1 and 15.

I have a comfortable 15 seat passenger van from my business and a son that is in College in the area... So I was planning to attend the Midwest Meeting. IF, others would like to car pool with me - It would be a fun time together and everyone can save on gas and enjoy the ride! If Bob Jackson feels up to it, we can also pick him up (feel free to discuss this with his wife-she's obviously welcome also). 4 -8 adults (we all are small men right...) with overnight bags and anything they may be bringing to show should be an easy load. I'm easy as to the schedule (ie, if folks want to stay overnight, go early Friday, late Friday, etc...). Just an offer.

I spoke with Hartville Hardware yesterday.
They still want us even though they are having their big tool sale.
I offered a pen turning demo for the public (as a thank you )
They liked the idea and will get back before the meeting to finalize

So the meeting will be Feb 22 at Hartville Hardware at 2:00
Keep an eye on the Ohio forum post for details.

I had idea. Do you think there would be any interest in doing a cancer awareness pen demo? Might not be exciting for the more experienced but maybe for some it would be. In light of Bob Jackson's health maybe we could make a few pens to sell and donate/give a way in his name. What do you think?

Jason:

I think that is a good thought. I have not done anything like that (laser cut pieces I think), but I would be interested to learn and try if anyone else can demo! (I can splatter my blanks with the best :crying:

I done a few and the one I have left turned out well. I could demo them unless someone has more experience. They are a great starting laser cut kit since it is not to intricate.

Well S..T Jason - You done a few... - you're our expert!!! If you are willing to stick out your tools and demo... I'll stick out my tools and try to turn one also! Let's have fun!

I've ordered some cool blanks from a guy I know, who knows a guy, who heard of a guy, who has a brother from a daughter of a son of a cousin...in Montreal (oldfoxpenblanks.com) and these will be in the door prizes. They are wood/resin blanks that I have enjoyed.

So... want some cool blanks... come to the mtg!!!

hello all. Been a member here for a few years but haven't been too active. Getting back into the swing of things and I see the ohio chapter meets at Hartville HW. I'm in Canton and if possible might try to make this meeting. Where at the store do you meet?

Thanks!

Jeff
