My latest castings. Feathers as inspired by our IAP member SHANE (Shane Whitlock). The feathers were generously provided by my daughter Sarah, who teaches art to aspiring students and is always providing me with both ideas and materials. Hope you enjoy the work (play in my case )

That is a great looking pen. Not having done any casting I'm wondering if there was a reason you didn't run the feathers the full length of the tube other than just wanted to do it that way. Some of the stuff you guys do has me in awe.

What a bummer!!! hmmm, next time maybe make your oops band black to match the kit. It is way cool though. Did you glue the feathers on the tubes?

Used 3M double sided tape on the brass tube and applied the feathers direct. Tape is much easier to work with (cleaner too)to keep the feathers as close as possible to the brass, I wrapped clear twine around the feathers and finally cast the tube.

Very nice work Peter. I've also admired Shane's feather pens. What type of bird are those feather's from??

Honestly don't know what variety of bird(s) they came from but they are colourful and purchased from DOLLARAMA store(s) here in Canada. Good value for $1 dollar.

Chrome feathers

Latest chromed feathers. Notice the ebony end rings. Did this in order to prevent another possible blowout as occurred with the gold feathered pen.

Beautiful work! I tried feathers when I first started casting.... it was not a happy experiment. You've inspired me to try again!

Very Nice ! I recently tried my hand with some turkey feathers but had it break on me. Im looking forward to trying some pheasant next.
