Faux abalone?

This is hemp wood on a Knurl GT. It doesn't have the same depth, but it really does look like abalone to me. It was a pain to work with, a lot harder than I expected. I ended up using carbide. Other than a few voids around the clip, I'm happy with how it came out. I'm just gonna call those "features". The finish is 3 coats of GluBoost med followed by 3 thin. Wet sanded through the Zona grits and was happy without further polishing.

That stuff looks nice, but it is a pain to turn.
