My FIL was admitted to Broward General early today after 4 straight days of unstoppable nose bleeds.

Since he's been admitted, he has become very aggressive and belligerent, he's unable to answer questions correctly about anything from his medical history to simple questions like do you smoke, have you ever been in an accident, etc...

Please keep him and our family in your prayers that neuro clears him and that they can find an answer and fix whatever is wrong. It's tough that we're 12 hours away and can't be there to support him, but other family members are and he is in good care.

nose bleeds

I wish him the best of luck. I hope it is minor.

I had a similar thing happen when I turned 40. 2 days in a row, the nose bleeding would not stop and I ended up in the ER twice. I was give an inflatable nose pack which keep me from bleeding.

I ended seeing my daughters ENT who sent me over to a otalarangist who ended up doing emergency surgery when I bled through the packing a couple of days later. I had a small section of my sinus that ruptured to the blood vessels. The rupture was patched, one night in the hospital and I was home. I guess it is common. Surgery was not bad. Only downside, I had to sleep sitting up and could not fly for 3 months. I was flying regularly for work at the time.

Prayer

I'm adding your FIL to my prayers Carl. My wife has had that happen to her twice - most recently about a month or so ago. She had something cauterrized way up in her nose. Only took a few minutes. I hope it turns out to be something simple for your father-in-law.

They brought him in for emergency surgery at 9pm last night. They cleared out a bunch of polyps from his nasal cavity and cauterized whatever appeared to be the source of the bleeding however shortly after the surgery he started bleeding again. They are currently waiting for a specialist radiologist to arrive.

At this point we still don't know what is wrong and they are unable to get the blood to clot.
