Happily, I am renaming my Ugly Blank. As we all know, the outer diameter appearance is frequently not what we end up with. So I have two possible names - "Stormy Weather," or "Faces." See if they make sense to you.

Stabilized Buckeye Burl core and end caps. White and Grey Veneers. Six slotted Maple blank.

Slots = .092"
3-ply veneer sandwich = .0855"
White Veneers = .0235"
Grey Veneers = .0385"
Trim Rings = .126"
Buckeye End Caps = .3"

EDIT: I'm adding the thumbnail photos as some of the larger ones are... too large IMO. 🤣

At first I thought faces, but I only see one. Stormy weather or Desert Storm might be better. Now, I really don't think it is ugly. In fact I kind of like it.

Not sure how I missed the other two trim ring posts you made. Excellent work on all three. Your segmenting is amazing. Thanks for sharing the in progress photos...great story telling technique. Looking forward to the next in the progression.
Do a good turn daily!

That is stunningly artistic! I love the natural patterns swirling through that wood, like a swirling sand storm. The structured symmetry of your segments really contrast the chaos of the burl beautifully, yet the colors blend it all together so well.

I do see faces, but they are kinda creepy; tortured souls trapped forever in a pen barrel? Dang, I can't un-see them now. Yeah, I'd go with a storm themed name on this one.

I'm out tonight for a wine tasting evening I will have another look when I get back bound to see faces then. Great work very well done precision personified and that's before I have a drink.
