The Perfect Fit BP pen takes an 11/32" tube in the cap end, approx. 2 3/32" in length. I would like to extend that tube to 2.25" in length.

There doesn't seem to be any 10" 11/32" tubes that can be purchased.

I'm thinking of soldering the add'nl length I require.

Anybody got any better ideas?

Guess you need a tube stretcher...:biggrin:

How about taking two tubes, cut to half length of the cap and glue in from opposite ends of the cap... the cut joint can be in the middle of the cap.... I've done this a couple of times.

Hi Chuck; Can I borrow yours, please? Had thought of that. Definitely, that's one way!

I use 2 part epoxy to glue in tubes and wondered how much epoxy I'd end up with in the middle of the tubes, although I do seal the ends with dentist's wax.

Any time you cut a tube in half and insert it in a blank, it causes a week spot in your pen at that point, with little wood or acrylic to support it. I will use a double tubing method to make a stronger joint. Cut your tube in half, than insert the next smallest tube into the joint extending 1/2 inch in both directions. Set your desired length, and glue. If the fit is loose, wrap masking tape around the smaller tube ends to make up the difference, until you have a snug fit. The fix won't be seen, it won't interfear with the workings of the pen, and it will never come loose. Jim S

Check hobby supply stores. Many carry brass tubes of various diameters in fairly long lengths. You may be able to find a tube that will work for your purpose.

Order extra tubes, expand one tube using a transfer punch inserted 1/4" into the tube with a twisting motion. Slip the tubes together, flux, align, and solder the tubes. Trim any excess solder, and cut to length.
