Well, I'm being evicted from my Garage Workshop, and I am SO HAPPY! :smile::rolleyes::redface::biggrin::wink::smile-big::beauty: LOML has decided that garages are for cars not for sawdust noise etc. OK, so maybe I dropped a few hints now and then, but it is much better when she thinks a workshop is her idea. So I am just about ready to pour the floor for my new Man Cave, umm I mean Workshop. It will be 28" x 36' and with a loft. I'll do updates and pictures as I progress, which will be somewhat slow as I'll be doing most of the work myself.

Nice sounding shop. Just be sure you have many, many dedicated outlets installed now as they are harder to do when 'things' are already in place..

I am well into the process of expanding mine another 25 feet right now . In the end I think the shop area will be around 50 feet long and 26 feet wide. I'm to the wiring stage right now and having had a mild stroke several years ago things go slow, slower, and slowest since I am doing this almost by myelf at times. At least now come winter I can use the fireplace that is in the area.

Anyone want to come over and help paint cement on the cinder block walls? Dang if that stuff doesn't just keep getting heavier and heavier with each brush stroke. Then there is the ceiling to paint white, then all the other stuff to do.:eek:

Now that you have the building permit from she who must be obeyed, the bigest hurdle has been jumped. Good luck in the construction. Wish I had done that years ago.

Hope you like it as much as I do mine. 'Bout 4 years ago we (wife and I) built a 22x40. It's now FULL. :) I'll second the outlet suggestion. I put em every three feet, alternating between 18" and 4' from the floor. After that, the best money I spent on the shop was for the central heat/air unit and the dust collection system.

It should be a nice room for turning really long spindles ...

Seriously, though, a 28' X 36' workshop sounds fantastic (and a loft, too!). I'm in about half that amount of space, and in a basement. I'd love to have an above ground shop with LOTS of windows for taking advantage of natural light.
 
Slab is poured Now the Fun Begins

Well, it finally stopped raining long enough to get the slab poured. So now I can start buying material and start the framing.:biggrin:

New Workshop update

Mike, thanks for asking, but it's not quite done yet. I ran into some delays and medical issues including a knee replacement, and since I am doing all the work myself that has slowed it down. The Exterior is complete except trim and stain, and I'm working on the interior electrical and then finishing the interior. It is basically 4 12'x28' modules, one of which is a second story with a small deck. The lower right hand module will be completely finished and have heat and AC, the balance only heat. Also my goal was to keep it under $10,000 and I'm currently at $9,095 with almost everything I need purchased so I might make it.:beauty::beauty::beauty:

Looking great. Sorry about the delays and medical issues but I think you are coming along swimingly. I think the view is great but the fact that you have come in under budget stuns me the most. Enjoy and be safe.
 
I think it's GREAT, when you get tired of working on it, load it on some 18 wheel trailers and send it to Arizona, I will be happy to finish it for you, NO charge!
