i've worked mostly with resins and epoxy for surfboards.

Anyone tried ultra thinned epoxy to stabilize wood or as a final coat?

you can thin epoxy with Xylene to make a penetrating epoxy to "fix" spunky wood but I haven't heard of anyone using the 1:1 epoxies in place of lacquer as a seal coat.

there's a urethane epoxy I use that hardens when pressure is applied or misted with water. There's also some UV poly resins that kick instantly when exposed to sunlight.

There's also some 2Pac spray on automotive clear coat in a can we use to seal epoxy composites.

just looking around at what i have in large quantities versus these small bottles of volatile CA

thanks

I dabbled with some of the UV PR a few(some) years back. The usual ups and down with dabbling are that if you used direct sunlight with too long an exposure and applied too thick of a coat you cracked the finish, not long enough and the wax wouldn't rise to the surface to fully seal the finish. The full spectrum lamps I use in the shop to see with didn't help in application either.

You may be better at it than I, your being in the biz though.
