Isn't Enduro a type of water-based polyurethane? Why is it the only one that ever comes up? Has anybody tried the water based poly products made for flooring? Seems they ought to be durable, and they dry fast.

I have tried General Finishes High Performance Poly (Woodcraft had it). This is a waterbased poly rated for floor use. I had a fairly thick coating of the finish on the blank and found that I had to let the finish sit around for about a week before it was hard enough to polish out. I did a Sierria II in birdseye maple with it and gave it to my sister. She has been walking around with this pen in the bottom of her purse (sigh) but the finish looks great after 6 months.

I now have some Enduro but haven't tried it yet so I don't yet have a direct comparison.

I have been using this for a while now and I think it is terrific. After 3-4 coats and an overnight rest, it can be polished like PR.

There is another very good product, water-based PU, its called UNAXOL and can be had from Moby Dick Supplies (do a search for more info). I use it for some time and it works as good, if not better than Enduro.

Not all waterborne polyurethane finishes are alike. Enduro was the 1st with the best. There are now other waterborne polyurthane finishes on the market that are equal to Enduro. However, none of them are available from the shelves of Home Depot, the local paint store, or Woodcraft. Enduro has become easier to purchase because it is now made by General Finishes, and sold at Woodcraft and other places who carry their products.
