elimination of center band

i have been watching a nice video these days from a guy who made a very complicated segmented pen, its quite popular on youtube.

At the end of his build he files away the center ring or the cap and the body making a very nice "kitless" looking pen. I think he used a taylors mirfield omega fountain pen kit; has anyone tried something similar? i have searched the site but didn't find anything. Any advice is wellcome, cheers everybody.

I did it here for instance. The process is very clear on the vid I guess. I use a parting tool and/or a gouge to shave the center band.

Yes but this is a kitless pen isn't it. Pierre i ve seen your work and i am currently a few light years behind you. Baby steps..

It is not a kitless, have a look at it when opened. I started with a Jr Gent kit and did exactly like on the video.

Oh i see now. And the round ends? You plugged them with dowels?
