Dust Hood Bracket

Not long ago I got a dust hood and sliding bracket and I could not figure out how it worked. No instructions came with it. It turned out that I made one that I think works better and very easy to make. It pivots back out of the way and pulls forward to where you need it.

Nice solution.. I like it better than my DC holder..

Think I'll use this idea on my big lathe.. been trying to think of solution to putting Dc on it.

The trick is to use 1 1/2 to 2" lag bolts going thru the l bracket into the wood where you can tighten and hold in any position.

Actually the bed of my Rigid lathe is MDF.. probably will have to use carriage bolts with washers on both sides to ensure I can get tight. What size strap iron did you use.

I just looked again.. you used "L" brackets and a 1 x to hold the hood... first impression was that it was a metal bracket attached to the hood.

The dust hood came with a large L bracket, the bracket screwed to the table top is a 3"

I like it better than a magnetic mount.
