Dust Collector inlet?

I was looking at an ad for the Jet Cyclone dust collector and there was a comment made about not reducing the 6" inlet to two 4" inlets which confuses me. Why are they sold this way then? I would imagine that almost all of dust collection systems not used on one tool at a time has a "Y" fitting in the line somewhere. I can see not reducing to 2 1/4" right out of the collector but do we really lose that much suction with the factory "Y" that comes on the Jet collector anyway?

My Jet 3 HP double bag collector has a cap that has 3- 4 inch openings in the inlet. With all 3 openings each going about 25 feet overhead and in different directions, At the lathe it is so powerful that it will almost pull a chisel out of my hand.

IMHO, a "y" should work just fine.

Thanks. I am in the process of trying to run lines to 3 tools and did not want to waste my time and money.
